VA Whole Health and CIH

Adjunctive · VA-supported

What it is

Yoga, meditation, tai chi/qigong, acupuncture, iRest, and the other List 1 complementary approaches VA is supposed to offer.

Evidence

Best as part of a plan. Not a replacement for trauma-focused therapy when PTSD is primary. Sleep and pain are common wins.

Access for veterans

VA Whole Health, Vet Centers sometimes, civilian yoga/meditation veteran programs (Warriors at Ease, VETOGA, and others).

Cautions

A yoga class is not CPT.

Evidence reviewed September 2026. Named sources are being added room by room; start with VA/DoD PTSD guideline (2023) for first-line care.
