When alcohol or drugs travel with trauma. Seeking Safety is one named model. VA generally treats co-occurring conditions together rather than “get sober first, then PTSD.”
Integrated SUD+PTSD care is guideline-aligned. Seeking Safety has a research base as a present-focused coping model; it is not a full trauma-memory protocol like PE.
VA SUD clinics, Community Care, and some civilian programs. Ask whether they will treat both at once.
Detox and medical withdrawal are separate from this talk-therapy door.
